Digicel Vs Bmobile: Whose Got The Better Pre Paid Plans?
It’s about that time again where I look to review one of the most asked questions in the country and no it’s not KFC vs Royal Castle, whose better (I do prefer Royal Castle). It’s another Digicel vs Bmobile blog and today we are going to be taking a look at who offers the best packages for my prepaid users. Is it Digicel or the green machine Bmobile?
I will be taking a look at other factors like postpaid plans and service in a later blog post, but we know that T&T is a prepaid nation, and since a lot of plans have come and go, let us see who’s got the best plans for my prepaid folk out here.
What makes a good prepaid plan?
That is a question that varies from consumer to consumer but generally speaking we hear that price, features, variety of plans, and clarity of plans seem to be high on most consumers list. Today we take a look at Bmobile & Digicel’s prepaid plans to see if they hit those targets.
Digicel
Prices
Digicel offers a variety of packages for different price points. You can get a plan for as low $5ttd and right up to $390ttd. Somewhere in btw there, I am positive there is a plan that fits your price point.
Features
There are some staples in all of Digicel’s plans that include regardless of price point. All plans include unlimited talk & text to other Digicel users, subscription to their D’music app and your data/min roll over once you renew your plan.
Variety Of Plans
It’s like the team at Digicel sat around and thought about every situation someone would need a prepaid plan for. Most companies have 2-4 plans to pick from, Digicel has 8. They have 1 hour, 1 day, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 30-day plans. Variety!
Plan Clarity
Digicel does a good job of breaking down all 8 plans. Going through the plans, they are pretty easy to understand. If you need further clarification on the do’s and donts of the plans, make sure you hit the link to the FAQs of their plans.

Bmobile
Prices
Bmobile’s plans range from $20-$400ttd. Their plans do hit the affordable mark for different tiers.
Features
Bmobile focuses on giving you unlimited plans. They have one plan out of their 4, that is not fully unlimited but you still get good value.
Variety Of Plans
Bmobile offers up 4 different plans focused on offering an endless supply of minutes, text and data, only subjected to their fair usage policy. Sometimes not having to many plans to pick from is good, that way too avoid confusion.
Plan Clarity
Bmobile has laid out their plans so that they are easy to read and the additional details are easy to find. I would recommend everyone take a look at the fair usage policy and the FAQS to fully understand what they are entitled to within their plans.

Who Has The Best Fair Usage Policy For Unlimited Use?
Both networks need to come out and further clarify what the fair usage policies are in more layman’s terms and specify what the thresholds are so that everyone can manage their data without being blindsided with either a charge, reduction in access or flat out suspension on the network. With streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu all the rage, it’s not impossible to rack up high data consumption. Consumers should be made aware as to what the threshold is, so they can manage their data usage accordingly.
What Would Make Pre Paid Better?
We live in a time period where everyone’s needs are changing and we need the flexibility to grow with our changing needs. What both companies need to do in my opinion is offer A La Carte services. Give us the options to build our own plans that fully suit our needs. They should create the features, give it a dollar amount, give discounts for more features you bundle together but ultimately give us the choice and freedom we need. The first company that goes this route, will ultimately see an uptick in new subscribers, toss in the fact that we have number portability now and customers will be more willing to make the switch.

In Conclusion…
If you are looking at grabbing the right prepaid plan, it will ultimately come down to what do you need and what works for your budget. Digicel has essentially matched Bmobile on their 4 plans offered but are better suited for consumers who need to make Long Distance calls as Bmobile’s Unlimited plans are only for local calls nor do they provide a pool of minutes for LD.
If you are a tourist in the country, the additions of the 1hr, 3 days, 5 days, and 10-day plans will be of good service to you as they are short-term and provide data & LD minutes for calls outside of T&T. Bmobile currently has the faster network with their 4G LTE service.
I would also remind people to ensure that whatever location they spend the most time at, their provider has good service in the area. You can download the Opensignal and check to see if your areas are covered by Bmobile or Digicel respectively.
