  1. Kerron K (verified owner)

I have been an Android user for the past 6 years. The Lenovo K5 Pro represents my first foray into the Lenovo space, having previously owned Samsung and Huawei smartphone devices. For me, the first, and most important factor when choosing any device is the price-point. II am a firm believer in the notion that the best value for money exists in the “mid-range” of smartphone products. The K5 Pro is an excellently priced device for the features offered.

After an informed conversation with the droidisland owner, I decided to make the purchase. On receiving and unboxing the device, I was instantly impressed by the phone’s sleek form-factor and design. The phone feels light and sturdy to hold. The “gold” colour is specifically a rose-gold which has stylish look to it.

The Lenovo UI is very clean and responsive and the set-up is what you’d expect from any android device; straightforward.

The LCD display is bright and crisp, making for a more than satisfactory visual experience when watching videos, streaming or just scrolling through applications.

In making this purchase, I felt like I’d have to sacrifice on the camera quality in order to enjoy the other features, which at first, seemed like the true selling points. After playing around with both the front and rear-facing cameras though, I realised that I may have found a gem in the mid-range space. Both cameras were markedly better than my previous device, offering a range of features and producing sharp shots in decent light. In poor light, the camera quality dips as do most but the “torch” feature offsets this somewhat by using the camera flash as a constant light-source while taking shots at night or in poor lighting.

The main selling point of the K5 Pro is the 4050 mAh battery. After using this phone for several weeks, I can state that this is easily the best feature. Up to the point of this review, I have been able to easily go through a day of regular phone use, which includes streaming videos on Youtube, browsing the web with Google Chrome, social media use, etc on a single charge with life left to spare. The only shame is that the battery is not removable. I know this is a minor gripe in today’s tech-space where non-removable batteries allow for sleeker design but I suppose it’s just a matter of personal preference.

All in all, at this price-point, the K5 Pro is an excellent device with a decent display, great performance and even greater battery life. The camera naturally does not compete with those found at the high end of the market but it still offers a decent array of features and enough quality to satisfy your selfie-taking needs.
