The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the Best Mid-Range Device of 2017!

I do not know how many ways I am going to be able to say this, but the Xiaomi Mi A1 is officially the BEST Mid Range device of 2017. I don’t care if we are still waiting for devices like Huawei Honor 7X, or if there are devices like the Moto G5s or even Xiaomi’s own Note 4x already out. When Xiaomi releases the Mi 5x, the tech world let out a collective sigh, meh, who cares. That was until Google decided to reinvigorate the Android One program and partner with Xiaomi to release the pure Android One software and convert the Mi 5X into the Mi A1.  Let me break this down as to why this is significant especially for us here in the Caribbean.

Let me get the specs out of the way. Powering this device is one of the best mid-range CPUs the Snapdragon 625 which has enough power for 3D intense games but excels on the battery efficiency, 32/64gb of storage with 4gb of RAM, dual 12mp rear cameras, 5mp front-facing shooter, 3080mAh battery, AND PURE ANDROID GOODNESS Nougat 7.1.2 out the box with Oreo on the way and the promise of upgrading to Android P next year.

With the Pure Android Software reserved for the likes of the Pixel, it has transformed a forgettable device to the BEST mid-range device on the market. The software partnered up with the Snapdragon 625, 4gb of RAM ensures that anything you throw at it will be handled with zero lag. The cameras are also the best in this price segment, and you can view some of the sample shots below.  In my time with the  Mi A1, it never felt as if I was using a mid-range device. Unless you are about to match it upside besides with a device sporting a Snapdragon 835 or Kirin 960 CPU, then you may see the difference in performance.

The loudspeaker on it is surprisingly loud and because I am an audiophile, I was shocked at the audio coming out of the 5v audio jack. I get better audio performance from the Mi A1 than I do on my current daily driver the Huawei Honor V9. Battery life was able to get me through the day and due to its fast charging, I wasn’t waiting too long to top back up to full. A little under 1hr 20 min and I was back at 100%.

So to recap, what does the Mi A1 offer you. A GREAT, GREAT user experience. Performance is snappy, you are guaranteed 2 major updates, excellent build quality, the best camera optics at the price segment, and the best bang for your buck of any device. Any drawbacks can be forgiven due to the how affordable this smartphone is.

So let us know if this is a device you would pick up for yourself.
